A Bit of Background
It started in 2019. when Nikola thru hiked Colorado Trail and filmed his award winning documentary Why do I hike. It inspired hundreds of thousands of viewers. Currently on YouTube it has 2.2 millions views and growing. Watch it here! Some viewers commented that thru hiking is not so inspiring at all times. Nikola took it personally and went on a new adventure to film the real thing - hardships of a thru hike.
Vision
So when Nikola went on Continental Divide Trail to make a new documentary he knew it has to be a culmination of compelling storytelling, excellent cinematography, and fantastic editing. He hiked 2000 km with all of his video gear on his back along with essentials in his backpack. All together 90 days on trail, he was working 24/7 to make the best possible footage for a documentary in making.

Music holds the film. Denis Kozlica - award winning composer knows that. In pursuit of a perfect feel for a documentary Denis was involved in Nikola's journey across continental divide. He was reading the blogs, watching the interviews and inspiring himself with Nikola's previous work. Once Nikola was back and on track to edit the movie Denis was ready to compose and he did marvelous job. Furthermore, his music was awarded the first prize at the prestigious International Sound & Film Music Festival, thus confirming the quality of both the visuals and the accompanying sound, creating a perfect work of art.
Extremes
This is story of extremes. Every adventurer on a journey, on which a protagonist of Why do I hike 2 went, carry heavy backpack and lives under a sky - so whatever the sky gives one needs to take it. Heat, cold, rain, hail, snow or just physical things like blisters, sweat, hunger, thirst, blood and tears is daily life for a thru hiker - adventurer who hikes 2, 3 or 4 thousand kilometers in season. This way of living is huge undertaking just by itself. And if you add to all of that 5 additional kilos of filming gear, time and efforts to make perfect shots, management of batteries and memory cards, uploading and managing of footage in time reserved for rest you will get a project worth of anybody's time and attention.
